Breast reduction surgery

She came at the hospital to make an operation in order to reduce the size of her breasts

While most women want plastic surgeries to make their breast bigger, for others big breasts can be a real problem. It is the case of a young woman from Focsani, Doina M, that is thirty-four years old, and that came to Iasi to reduce her gigantic breasts. "This patient suffered from a disease, a malformation called Gigantomastia. Only one breast weighted five kg, so it was a true calvary for this woman. She even started to have problems with her back, having so many kg in plus carried day by day" said doctor Teodor Stamate, specialist in plastic surgery and the director of the Hospital of Clinical Urgency Iasi

After a surgical intervention that lasted for almost four hours,the woman had her breast reduced to almost half of the size, taking out from each one 3.350 kg of substance. Generally, in this case, the costs of the operation is taken under responsibility of the health insurance, because Gigantomastia doesn't enter the plastic surgery area, it is considered a disease.

Over the years, the Department of Plastic Surgery from the Hospital of Clinical Urgency, from what professor Stamate said, fifty-sixty of such operations have been made, of shrinking gigantic breast, on women with ages between eighteen and thirty-five years old. The case of the young woman from Focsani will be presented by the director of the Hospital of Clinical Urgency from Iasi at the International Congress of Plastic Surgery from Bucharest,that will take place between 28-30 May. "The Department of Plastic Surgery from Iasi will also present at this congress, methods of breast reconstruction with tissue expansion and silicone implants, for cases in which the breast is totally missing or after the amputation of the breast caused by breast cancer" also mentioned doctor Teodor Stamate.
